Welcome to Kempsey Primary School

Kempsey Primary School is a very special school and I feel both privileged and lucky to be its head teacher. I believe we are a very special school because we put our children at the heart of all that we do; and we thrive because the people in this school (the staff, parents and governors) are united in wanting the very best for our children.

 

Our children are truly unique. They are articulate and confident, committed to their learning. They tackle new challenges with energy, enthusiasm and excitement. We work hard to instil in them the values of respect, empathy, pride and resilience. We foster a growth mindset with our pupils and teach them that the word “yet” can transform their outlook. How much better to say, “I don’t know that yet” or “I can’t do that yet”, rather than “I don’t know” or “I can’t do that”? When our pupils leave us at the end of Year 6, we want them to leave as happy, well-rounded individuals, looking ahead with confidence and determination to the next step in their education. Every day and in every way, they are children who make us proud.

 

Our Governing Body is strongly committed to supporting the work of the school through challenge, rigor and excellent relationships with the staff, parents and community. As a school, we greatly benefit from the breadth and skills of our Governing Body; they are united in wanting to help us make KPS the best it can be.

 

Our parents are a vital part of our success. We believe that the link between home and school is integral to a child’s success and we encourage our parents to take an active part in their child’s learning. We see parents as partners in the education of their children and we greatly value their contributions to school life.

 

Undoubtedly, the staff in this school is the best I have ever had the honour of working with. Their skill, experience and dedication are outstanding. There is a great feeling of teamwork among all the staff, a feeling that we are all heading in the same direction and want the same things for our pupils and our school. I am humbled by their energy, grateful for their loyalty and energized by their humour.

 

All of this makes KPS a very exciting place to be. Children have just one childhood and we are conscious that their years in primary school are precious ones and will lay the foundations of the adults they are to become. For that reason we want our children’s primary experience to be magical, filled with inspirational and unforgettable learning experiences. Our role is to nurture and guide, to help our pupils blossom and grow and to teach them that anything is possible.
