The Lighthouse Keeper's Lunch Sum 2
This week our topic book was ‘The Lighthouse Keeper’s New Friend’ and we have used the title of this book to create new words and retold the story. Over the weeks involved during this topic the retelling of the stories has improved our sequencing memory as well as increase the children’s vocabulary.
On Thursday this week we also thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the school Colour Run. As you can probably imagine, the excitement was building up throughout the day and when it was eventually our turn it did not fail to disappoint. Well done to all of you for managing to send your children back in today looking normal again!
Today we have enjoyed a ‘Culture Day’. The children have visited several classrooms and have travelled to Italy, Spain, China and North America. It has been a day full of new facts and activities as well as a lovely opportunity to work with different teachers in a variety of classrooms.
This week our topic book was ‘The Lighthouse Keeper’s Rescue’. We have written letters to Mr Grinling and made him a celebration certificate alongside re-telling the story. We have also been working out whether numbers were odd or even and counting in twos.
This week our topic book was ‘The Lighthouse Keeper’s Breakfast’. We have written invitations to a celebration party, retold the story, made birthday cakes in the mud kitchen and made words from the title of the story. We have also been grouping and sharing items in maths and counting accurately.
Our new topic ‘The Lighthouse Keepers Lunch’ is well underway and the children have been enjoying retelling the story, creating lists of food for a balanced lunch and designing plans to stop naughty seagulls eating the lunch! We have also been doubling in number work. We have listened to many facts about lighthouses and created beach huts with shapes.
