Autumn Term
Tuesday 13th December - DT day
We received a letter from Izzy Gizmo; she needed our help! Her trolley had broken, she could not transport her tools so she asked us to make a trolley for her. We researched lots of types of trolleys and thought about the wheels that different ones use. We then made important design decisions, like what type of wheels we were going to use, how many dowel rods we would use for the axels and where they were going to go. We then made our trolleys, some of which you can see below! Can you spot your trolley?
Monday 5th - Friday 9th December
Beech class really enjoyed their Christmas jumper day and rocked a fantastic look on Thursday! The children also decided to make a shoebox donation to a charity called Teams4u, who try to ensure that all children receive a gift for Christmas, especially in deprived areas. The discussion we had demonstrated the empathy that the children possess and gave them a rich understanding that not everyone is as fortunate as we are.
Monday 28th November - Friday 2nd December
Beech class really enjoyed getting into the Christmas spirit this week. The children that attended the panto behaved impeccably (especially whilst waiting for the bus afterwards!). We were also asked by Chef Sarah to decorate baubles for her Christmas tree, you can see some of the efforts in the pictures below!
Monday 21st - Friday 25th November
The children have had a fantastic week in Maths, learning about 2D shapes, identifying them and their properties. We used a range of resources to create our own shapes which the children loved. They were fascinated by some of the larger-sided shapes that we created on the white. Did you know an icosikaitetragon has 24 sides and a pentacontagon has 50 sides!? Check out some pictures of the children enjoying their maths learning!
Monday 14th - Friday 18th November
Beech class absolutely loved learning some Quidditch games, as you can see in the pictures below! They loved chasing the Golden Snitch (Mr Redfern) and all the teams managed to catch him within the 10 seconds! Well done to Gryffindor who were the KS1 winners!
Monday 7th - Friday 11th November
The children have worked extra hard in their maths learning this week. We have been using Base 10 to add and subtract two 2-digit numbers. Some even completed the extra challenge of crossing 10 (eg. 38+42= and 51-29=). They thoroughly enjoyed recording their work on the tables!
Monday 31st October - Friday 4th November
The children enjoyed the build up to Bonfire Night and loved creating their own firework displays, using chalk and a rubbing technique! The children were excited to then watch displays over the weekend.
Monday 17th- Friday 21st October
The first half term of the year flown by! We are now half way to the Big C word, where is the time going!? Beech class thoroughly enjoyed their recycling project, creating a (very abstract) turtle and octopus! Check them out below!
Monday 10th- Friday 14th October
We had the most brilliant walk on Tuesday. The children were well behaved and respectful of their surroundings. We generated loads of fantastic vocabulary which we will use in our non-fiction writing next week. The pictures were mostly all taken by a child so show what the world looks like from their perspective - check them out below!
Monday 3rd - Friday 7th October
This week is Dyslexia Awareness week. 1 in 5 people have dyslexia which makes it an important thing to learn about, so we can support those with the learning difference. The children have learnt about what dyslexia is, famous people who have dyslexia and used this to create an information poster to raise awareness about dyslexia. Keep your eyes peeled for some examples from Beech class!
Monday 26th - Friday 30th September
We have had an excellent week in Beech class, full of fun and plenty of hard work! In Music, we have been using Pitch Pencils and singing Tony Chestnut...watch the videos to check out our progress below!

During our PSHE lesson this week, the children enjoyed meeting our Jigsaw puzzle piece, Jigsaw Jo! Jo will help guide us through the year, as we venture into topics that address similarities and differences, setting goals and aspirations, keeping safe and healthy as well as building and maintaining positive relationships. Keep an eye out for more information on our PSHE lessons!
Monday 5th - Friday 9th September
The children have enjoyed their first few days in Beech class and are learning class routines and expectations. I am sure parents will have heard about some of them already! The children have also helped designed their own class rules, which I hope they will stick to! You can see what they helped design below!
