Oliver's Vegetables Sum 1
13.5.2022
This week our focus vegetable was rhubarb! The children were amazed at the size of the leaves on the rhubarb plant. We have been sketching and printing with sticks of rhubarb, counting and filling tens frames beyond 10 and 20, retelling the story adding additional detail and making facts files about different fruits and vegetables and how they grow.

Despite the last two weeks being short ones we have already got off to a flying start with our new topic ‘Oliver’s Vegetables’.
So far we have looked closely at carrots and spinach. We made new words from ‘carrots’ and ‘spinach’ and have been practising retelling the story orally, remembering as much of it as we can and created lists of the vegetables in the book and the vegetables we know. In maths we have weighed and measured carrots and placed numbers on carrots and spinach in the correct order. We have planted carrot seeds, found out how spinach grows and how to gather seeds from it. We have also tried eating roasted carrots and raw spinach. We were proud of everyone for trying these even if they did not want to try a second one.
