Zooming into Space
Thank you everyone for supporting our 'Eye care we care' day on Thursday. We enjoyed meeting our special visitors from New College and listening to how Fizzy gets around using her stick. We also had a go at trying to find our way around obstacles blindfolded and useing a stick.
On Friday we visited the 'Secret Santa Room'. You will have to wait until Christmas day to see what lovely surprises the children choose for you all. They were very excited by their selections.
Finally, the children now know what part they are in our Christmas play. Please do not feel the need to go out buying new items. We are hoping that by keeping it simple you will be able to borrow coloured tops and trousers from each other. Next week we will work on putting together a performance for you so don't forget to send your ticket requests back.
Today we had a special visit from Mr Taylor who is an author. He told us the story about Rory at the seaside. We joined in with sound effects and movement to bring the story to life. It was so much fun!
We have really improved at writing our addition and subtraction sentences this week and have a great understanding of one more and one less. We really enjoyed using our space chalk to write them in space! We also made some silly sentences by changing the words in ‘Aliens Love Underpants’.
We started learning our songs for the Christmas play this week..... see you next week in December!
This week the children have been looking at Aliens Love Underpants and they have been creating a variety of rhymes including a new rhyming alien name for themselves. They have also been identifying 1 more and 1 less.
A highlight this this week however has been a special visitor who taught us a Bhangra dance!
enjoy the long weekend everyone. Let’s hope we shake of some of our bugs by the time Tuesday comes around.
We started this week by travelling around 'space' in, on and around the apparatus in PE. We used our arm and tummy muscles to help pull us along. Then our new 'space suits' arrived a with some new resources and it was so exciting because we could pretend to be real astronauts zooming off to find the moon! Our counting backwards for blast off has become so powerful that we now whisper the blast off and still zoom very far into the solar system.
We have found writing number sentences and understanding the meaning of the '=' sign quite tricky this week. We wrote them in chalk in space and made them on rockets. We are going to have another look at this next week.
This week we started our new topic 'Zooming into space'. Hudson taught us lots of facts about each of the planets and we have been counting backwards for blast off. We have also built rockets from 2D shapes and taken our chalk for a walk while listening to 'Jupiter' by Holst. We used marbling inks to start creating our own planets.
Forest school was so much fun this week because it was really muddy and some children turned into alien mud monsters!
