Zooming into Space
We started this week by travelling around 'space' in, on and around the apparatus in PE. We used our arm and tummy muscles to help pull us along. Then our new 'space suits' arrived a with some new resources and it was so exciting because we could pretend to be real astronauts zooming off to find the moon! Our counting backwards for blast off has become so powerful that we now whisper the blast off and still zoom very far into the solar system.
We have found writing number sentences and understanding the meaning of the '=' sign quite tricky this week. We wrote them in chalk in space and made them on rockets. We are going to have another look at this next week.
This week we started our new topic 'Zooming into space'. Hudson taught us lots of facts about each of the planets and we have been counting backwards for blast off. We have also built rockets from 2D shapes and taken our chalk for a walk while listening to 'Jupiter' by Holst. We used marbling inks to start creating our own planets.
Forest school was so much fun this week because it was really muddy and some children turned into alien mud monsters!
