What's Happening in Class (Summer)
Welcome to the summer term. We are excited to get started on our new topic, The Great Grub Club, and with the summer weather, we are looking forward to spending lots of time outdoors learning. We will also study plants as part of our science work this term. Please see our topic web for more information about the topic.
Week Beginning 3rd May 2021
Here are a few images from the week. The children brought in food packaging from home and investigated where some of our food comes from. They were surprised to find out that a lot of the packaging came from Spain. They thought about why this was and whether it was a good thing or not.
The children also looked at why our sunflower seeds hadn't grown. We thought about the right condition a seed needs to germinate. We then set up an investigation to see which condition had the greatest impact on the seed growing. The children also had the chance to replant a sunflower seed, as well as other vegetables.
Week Beginning 26th April
This week there are photos and documents of a variety of things that the children have been doing:
- measuring in metres
- extracts of the children's fairy tales
- pictures of the children's observational drawings
Jodie, the personal trainer came to school to put the children and staff through our paces. We learnt many different moves and by the end, had definitely increased our heart rate. Earlier in the morning, we had looked at how we can keep ourselves healthy. The children found out that the following things help us to be healthy:
- plenty of water
- plenty of sleep
- eat a balanced diet
- look after our personal hygiene
