Grandad's Secret Giant

Story on Powerpoint
Friday 5th June 2020
Today's session focuses on the skill of summarising. At school we have identified the: who, what, where and when of a story, which will help. There are different ways of doing this:
- Click on the link below and fill in the comic strip with both pictures and sentences.
- Draw your own comic strip, choosing your own number of boxes.
- Write a paragraph (50 words or less) summarising the story.
- Alternatively, cut out the sentences from the example below, and ask your child to sequence the sentences and add their own pictures.

In today's session complete the questions from the worksheet below. These will use the second powerpoint of the story. Once you have completed the questions, think about what the word friendship means and the special qualities you look for in a friend.
Wednesday 3rd June 2020
This will be the first session looking at the story, Grandad's Secret Giant written by David Litchfield. Spend time looking and listening to the story. Click on the links above. Today's work uses power point 1. There are some comprehension questions, but also some words to investigate. If you have a dictionary at home, spend some time explaining how you find words. We have touched on this, but it will definately require some support from an adult.
