To learn with respect and belief; to challenge, create and dream!

Trip to The House of Lords

We were so incredibly privileged to take some of our children to the House of Lords this week. They were invited to take part in a celebration of engineering with an accompanying three course meal! The children met MP's, Lords, Baronesses and heads of leading engineering industries.

They were truly amazing all day, being great ambassadors for our school. Below, we have copied an email sent to from John Meston, one of the business leaders, along with some feedback from two governors who accompanied us on the trip.

Dear Mrs Baynes

Today I had the very great pleasure to meet with some of your pupils, staff and governors at the House of Lords All Party Parliamentary Engineering Group.  Your staff clearly have the respect and trust of the pupils and it is heartening to see your Governors actively involved. Such experiences are part of providing a wider perspective for pupils and I would be genuinely interested in what your pupils thought of the day.  From an industrial perspective, the future of Engineering is truly vested in schools such as yours and I left with a more positive view of the future than pure statistics can provide. I understand it is a long journey from Worcestershire and especially for 11/12 year olds, but I do hope that it served to inspire your pupils to consider a career in engineering.

The real reason for my  writing however, is the excellent impression your pupils created on me and on my Thales colleagues. I spoke to a number of your pupils including your Head Girl. What struck me was their effortless courtesy, the ease with which they engaged with a large group of strangers and how articulate they were. It was a pleasure to share in their curiosity and enthusiasm and I left the event feeling buoyed by what I had seen and heard from them.

I congratulate your pupils and staff for being wonderful ambassadors for Kempsey School !

Kind Regards

John Meston

Feedback from Governors

We had the immense pleasure of escorting 15 year 5 and 6 pupils to the House of Lords this week for a quite grown-up event on engineering which aimed to inspire young people to consider this as a future career. They were the youngest people in the room, sitting down for lunch with Lords and Baronesses, MPs, industry leads and secondary students. Amongst this they held their own, with immaculate behaviour and confidence to engage in conversation, soliciting emails to Mrs Baynes from attendees commenting on what amazing Ambassadors they were for the school. Joe Dunnett even had the confidence to ask a question of the speakers - may be a future politician in the making too!
We were both so proud to accompany the children and thank them for taking on this challenge with usual KPS positivity and gusto.
