We can't believe it is half term. It has been a long but an incredibly busy half term. Although the children are exhausted they have still tried their best right up until the very end of the week.
We have enjoyed sharing our Marvellous Me boxes and celebrating the fact that we are all so unique and so special. We have also been trying really hard to start applying the phonemes we have been learning to our reading and writing. All of the children are so proud of everything they have achieved since starting school in September.
The children also enjoyed their first school disco dressed as Halloween characters!
Have an enjoyable and relaxing half term everyone!
We have been working hard with our blending and segmenting of phonemes and ordering numbers correctly on a Numberline. We have also been counting the correct amount of objects to place on the right numeral. We also made towers as tall as ourselves and counted how many cubes we needed to do this.
Our Marvellous me boxes have been so special and we have all really enjoyed finding out new facts about each other.
We were amazed at the amount of conkers last week’s challenge brought about! Well done to everyone who (we think) managed to find all the conkers that existed in Kempsey!
This week we enjoyed doing lots of reading. We read with each other and with our book buddies. We are very fond of our book buddies who are Year 6 children.
We also talked about our families and things we do together at home. Some of us drew our family on our new big whiteboard in our outdoor classroom.
We did lots of ordering. We put numbers in the correct order, months of the year and stages of human growth. Here is a link to our months of the year song:
We have also been singing about conkers and would like to collect as many as possible. Please go on a conker hunt this weekend and send as many conkers into school as you can. We would also be happy to collect acorns!
This week we started our new topic 'Marvellous Me'. We have been discussing what some of our favourite colours and animals are and have found everyone has different favourites. We have also started to look at charts which tell us information about how many people have what colour eyes and hair.
We have asked all of the children to create a 'Marvellous Me' box over the next couple of weeks. Please see this week's class letter for more information in your child's book bag or on our web page. You could also look at the 'Marvellous Me' topic web to see some of the activities we have planned for this topic.
